The Buffalo Bills are 5-1 on the season, most recently taking down the Las Vegas Raiders 33-30 in Week 6. The New England Patriots, meanwhile, improved to 4-2 after defeating the New York Jets 26-19 over the weekend.
However, while the Bills have performed well and have won their last two games, NFL legend and Patriots icon Tom Brady still opted to put them lower in his power rankings, favoring New England instead.
Buffalo dropped to No. 5 after being fourth last week, while New England jumped from No. 7 to No. 4.
While Brady acknowledged that the Bills have one of the best offenses in the NFL, having scored a league-high 197 total points, he felt that the Patriots deserved a higher spot in his rankings by virtue of their head-to-head matchup.
It’s worth noting that the Bills’ only loss so far this season came against the Patriots in Week 4.

“That’s right. New England jumps Buffalo this week. Listen, there’s a very easy explanation for this. In the Tom Brady Power Rankings, there’s a clear scenario for when the head-to-head tiebreaker applies. It’s situations where I, Tom Brady, feel like applying it,” Brady explained.
Brady proceeded to heap praise on Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, noting that he appears to have recaptured his form after a slow start. Maye threw just one touchdown and had six interceptions in their first three games of the season; however, over the team’s last three outings, he has tallied 10 touchdowns with only one interception.
“Drake Maye’s been on fire the last three games. He’s calm in the pocket, making throws in big moments and taking care of the ball. Does this team remind you of last year’s Pats all of a sudden? I think so,” Brady stated.
The Patriots will play the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football in Week 7. It’s safe to assume that Brady will be keeping an eye on the game to see if his former team can maintain its strong run.
