The National Football League was not happy with San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk’s “offensive” celebration on Sunday.
The 49ers blew out the Dolphins, 35-13, on Sunday. Juszczyk, one of the best fullbacks in the league, had two catches for 27 yards.
Juszczyk got pretty excited after a big play, choosing to celebrate by pretending to chug a beer. However, the NFL will not stand for that. The league has officially hit him with a fine on Thursday.
The 35-year-old fullback was fined for his “offensive” demonstration.
“NFL fined 49ers fullback Kyle Juszczyk $14,926 for engaging in an offensive demonstration Sunday vs. Miami. ‘Your imitation of chugging a beer constituted an offensive demonstration and could reasonably be construed as being in poor taste,’ the NFL wrote in its fine letter. Juszczyk, nicknamed ‘Juice,’ already has appealed the fine,” Adam Schefter shared.
NFL fans not happy with the fine
“I’m just going to go out on a limb here…For a guy whose nickname is Juice, could it not be “reasonably construed” that he is drinking… stay with me here… Juice?” J.J. Watt shared.
“The NFL has somehow made imaginary beer more expensive than stadium beer,” one fan added.
“The NFL shoves alcohol down our throats but god forbid a player gestures drinking,” one fan added.
“Classic NFL making money from something they don’t condone! Who would have thought,” another fan said sarcastically.
“Pretty hilarious given the amount of alcohol ads the NFL loves to shove down people’s throats,” one fan added.
“This is offensive, but thousands of beers being chugged in the stands is ok. Make it make sense,” one fan added.
The San Francisco 49ers fullback is appealing the fine, so it’ll be interesting to see what he argues in defense of his “offensive” celebration.
