What's up with Cris Collinsworth's hands at the Super Bowl?

The 67-year-old former NFL wide receiver turned NBC announcer is on the call for Super Bowl 60. The big game will feature the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks. Collinsworth will be in the booth, along with Mike Tirico. Kaylee Hartung and Melissa Stark will be on sideline reporting duty.

For Collinsworth, it's his sixth Super Bowl. He's previously been on the call of four different New England Patriots Super Bowls, last in 2018, when the Eagles won, 41-33. New England is 2-2 in those games called by Collinsworth, alternating between wins and losses in the four games.

Collinsworth is perhaps better known at this point for his time calling Kansas City Chiefs games. He's expecting to bring the Chiefs up again on Sunday night, too.

“I probably will say Patrick Mahomes’ name and I have no idea why,” Collinsworth joked. “But now that you’ve planted it in my head I assume you bet the over so you’re trying to get me to do that. I have no idea or no plans of what I’m going to do but I’ve read those things. You can’t help but, right? People put them in front of your face all the time.”

But on Sunday, NFL fans are worried about something else: Collinsworth's hands.

What's up with Collinsworth's hands? They look black and blue on Sunday. Hopefully, it's nothing too painful.

"Chris Collinsworth hands looks crazy," one fan wrote.

"Wth is wrong with Collinsworth’s hands?" one fan added.

"uhh what is up with cris collinsworth's hands ..?" another fan wondered.

This is not the first time Collinsworth's hands have looked like this

Back during the 2024 season, Collinsworth worried fans, when he appeared on the air with bruised and battled hands.

“Chris Collinsworth’s hand looks like he tried to destroy a horcrux,” one fan added.

“Good god collinsworth’s hand looks a lot like my 89 year old grandfather’s hand looked. Hope he is doing ok,” one fan added.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, extremely cold weather can create a temporary condition known as peripheral cyanosis, “when only your hands, fingers, feet and/or toes turn blue. This can happen in very cold weather if your hands and feet aren’t well protected.” It's unlikely that that's what is causing this on Sunday, though.

It's not that cold in San Francisco on Sunday. Temperatures are expected to be in the 50s during the Super Bowl on Sunday night. That's perfect football weather. It's not the type of weather that should be causing a serious hand injury or ailment. Hopefully, whatever is ailing Collinsworth is not causing too much pain for him on Sunday night.

Kickoff, meanwhile, is set for 6:30 p.m. E.T. The game will air on NBC. Collinsworth will be on the call with Mike Tirico.
