2025 marked the first time since 2019 that the Buffalo Bills failed to win the AFC East. With star QB Josh Allen still in his prime, the team is doing all they can to help him - starting by making a big-time trade for a big-play wide receiver.
Multiple outlets including ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that the Bills have made a trade with the Chicago Bears to acquire wide receiver DJ Moore. The Bears will reportedly receive a mid-round NFL Draft pick as part of the deal.
"Sources: The #Bears are trading veteran WR DJ Moore to the #Bills, landing Josh Allen another weapon. It’s a mid-round pick compensation going back," Rapoport wrote.
Rapoport noted that the move reunites Moore with Bills head coach Joe Brady, who got some of the best football out of him when they were part of the Carolina Panthers from 2020 to 2021.
Good for all sides?
Moore and the Bills are the obvious winners of the trade. The Bills get the serious deep threat wide receiver that MVP QB Josh Allen has been craving, while Moore gets arguably the most polished passer that he's ever had in the NFL.
NFL fans certainly agree that the Bills crushed this trade:
"Josh Allen is eating. DJ Moore, Shakir, James Cook in the backfield and two tight ends who can stretch the field. The Bills are not building for next year they are building for a Super Bowl run right now. AFC better be ready," one user on X declared.
"Josh Allen just went from throwing to "whoever is open" to having a genuine Top 5 weapons room in the NFL. Is there a better offense in the AFC right now?" wrote another.
"Allen finally has a full toolkit. Defenses are about to have a long season," a third remarked.

2025 was a down year for the Bills only insofar as they weren't as good as the rival New England Patriots. They still went 12-3 and won a playoff game. However, the team's failure to reach the AFC Championship Game yet again resulted in the team dismissing head coach Sean McDermott and promoting Brady from offensive coordinator to head coach.
Moore could very well be the final piece to that championship puzzle.
With the Jets and Dolphins stagnating, all they really need to do is be slightly better than the Patriots and the path to SoFi Stadium next February could be a smooth one.
