With the NFL season a little over a month away, EA Sports has unveiled its player rankings for "Madden 27."
Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams (90 overall) has been named the cover athlete for this year's edition of "Madden." Despite receiving this incredible honor, there are eight quarterbacks ranked ahead of him heading into Week 1.
Matthew Stafford of the Los Angeles Rams is the No. 1 ranked quarterback (99 overall) as of this moment. The reigning MVP is coming off a season where he completed 65% of his passes for 4,707 yards with 46 touchdowns and eight interceptions.

Interestingly enough, Kansas City Chiefs star and three-time Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes is ranked outside of the top four.

- Joe Burrow - 97 overall

What was EA Sports thinking?
It didn't take long for NFL fans to air out their complaints about "Madden 27." Most of them are baffled that Joe Burrow is ranked ahead of Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes.
"Lamar Jackson a 94 these sports games are irredeemable and no one should be wasting their money on them," one fan declared.
"The Justin Herbert hype is crazy," a second fan wrote.
"What on earth has Joe Burrow done to deserve being 3-4 overalls higher than 2 time MVP Lamar and 2 time MVP 3 time Super Bowl winner Mahomes," a third fan asked.
"EA putting Burrow at a 97 for missing playoffs 3 straight years yet 2x MVPs Lamar and Mahomes at a 94 and 93," another fan commented.
"40 year old Matt Stafford being a 99 overall QB is crazy," a social media user added.
EA Sports will undoubtedly make changes its rankings as the 2026 season goes on. For now though, NFL fans aren't pleased with the current product.
