It sounds like former Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy might not return to NBC for the 2026 NFL season.
Andrew Marchand of The Athletic reported on Wednesday that Dungy is most likely out from NBC's "Sunday Night Football." He's been part of the network's pregame show for the past 17 seasons.
"The Dungy move is one of the first decisions in what is anticipated to be a new-look show. While it is the highest-rated Sunday pregame show, it has the benefit of being sandwiched between the late 4:25 p.m. window on CBS and Fox and its premiere game on Sunday night," Marchand reported. "The network may take the show fully on the road next season and slim down its cast, according to sources briefed on NBC’s plans."
Dungy, a Super Bowl-winning head coach, has not yet commented on his rumored departure. NFL fans, meanwhile, have made it clear they want him to remain on NBC's show.

"Imagine watching NBC’s NFL coverage and thinking Dungy is the problem," one fan said.
"I'd say all the NFL shows could use some new blood. Fox still has Bradshaw, who hasn't played in 40 years," a second fan wrote. "They need some fresh voices who have played in this century."
"So they have Simms kid, Collinsworth kid and Jason Garrett and they got rid of Dungy? Brilliant," a third fan sarcastically commented.
"Get rid of the ENTIRE studio crew. They all suck. I have a salt shaker with more personality than [Jason] Garrett," another fan said.
More changes could be coming to NBC.
It's being reported that Rodney Harrison and Jac Collinsworth's roles with NBC are now in question as well.
“Awful Announcing has learned that it is unlikely analyst Rodney Harrison will return next season and that Jac Collinsworth’s role on the show is also in question. Along with Dungy, the trio made up the show’s satellite studio that traveled on-site to each Sunday Night Football game throughout the season,” Drew Lerner reported.
Apparently, the "Football Night in America" crew isn't fond about this news leaking out to the public.
