Who is the NFL’s worst announcer in 2026?
If you take to social media, you’ll find one name getting more complaints than the rest. NBC Sports analyst Cris Collinsworth, who called the season-opening game between the Seahawks and the Patriots, is the “worst” announcer in the league, according to fans on social media.
Collinsworth, a former NFL wide receiver, has a big platform. He calls the biggest game of the week for NBC’s “Sunday Night Football.” But with a big platform, comes a lot of criticism.
“Worst announcer ever,” one fan wrote.
“Chris Collinsworth is quite literally the worst announcer of NFL football in history. How does this guy still get paid to open his mouth and talk?!?!” one fan added.
“Oh god we have to start off the NFL season opener listening to the worst announcer ever,” one fan added.

Not everyone agrees, though.
Awful Announcing ranked every announcer in the league heading into the 2026 season. Collinsworth was not last.
In fact, he was fairly high.
Collinsworth came in at No. 3 in the league, paired up with Mike Tirico.
“Collinsworth gets over hated, he is still excellent at what he does,” one NFL fan wrote.
“Collinsworth is tremendous. Can’t say the same about Tirico,” another NFL fan said.

Collinsworth is always going to be polarizing. The same can be said of most top announcers around the league.
However, while fans on social media seem to agree that Collinsworth is the league’s “worst” announcer right now, there’s much more to this debate when you look closer at it in 2026.
