There's no question about it, the Green Bay Packers have an important decision to make on head coach Matt LaFleur this offseason.
LaFleur, 46, has been coaching the Packers since 2019. He owns a 76-40-1 record in the regular season. Unfortunately, he's only 3-6 in the postseason. To make matters worse, he's coming off a brutal collapse to the Chicago Bears on Wild Card weekend. His team was leading 21-3 at halftime before giving up 25 points in the fourth quarter.
Since there's only one year left on LaFleur's contract, the Packers are trying to negotiate an extension. ESPN's Adam Schefter, however, suggested that a new deal isn't a lock to happen.
"They still have not gotten it figured out. And the longer it lingers out there, the more you wonder where it's going to go and how it's going to result," Schefter said, via Packers Wire. "Right now, how I would interpret it right now is it's up in the air."
Nearly 48 hours have passed since Schefter's report. That has some people believing there's tension behind the scenes.
"Just because they're negotiating an extension doesn't mean they'll reach an agreement," Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk said. "The Packers may be lowballing him. He's on the ropes. You just blew a 21-3 against your rival. You'd be on a four-year streak with no postseason if it wasn't for the seventh seed."

Where could LaFleur end up?
If the Packers ultimately decide to part ways with LaFleur, fans are convinced he'll end up on the Miami Dolphins.
"Packers and Dolphins hammering out deal for LaFleur," one fan wrote on X.
"Until we hear of an extension for LaFleur… Don’t count it out. Possible trade," a Dolphins fan commented.
"I wonder if GB would consider trading LaFleur," a third fan said. "It would mutually be a good move bc the Packers would gain something before he leaves, and the Dolphins would secure him without risk he that goes someplace else. We shouldn’t give up much but it’d be better than nothing for GB."
"LaFleur to Dolphins makes too much sense," another fan said.
It's worth pointing out that Miami hired Jon-Eric Sullivan as its general manager. He was the president of player personnel for the Packers from 2022-2025.
Sullivan clearly knows how LaFleur operates on a day-to-day basis. If the veteran coach becomes available, he might just make a run at him via trade.
