A large group of NFL fans claim to be "boycotting" the Super Bowl 60 Halftime Show this weekend.

Bad Bunny, the Puerto Rican rapper and singer, will be performing at halftime at Levi's Stadium. The league has received blowback from some regarding the Super Bowl 60 halftime show, including from President Trump, but it's standing by its choice.

"He's one of the most popular entertainers in the world," NFL commissioner Roger Goodell told reporters at a news conference. "... It's carefully thought through. I'm not sure we've ever selected an artist where we didn't have some blowback or criticism. ... We're confident it's going to be a great show.

"I think it's going to be exciting and a united moment."

But a large group of fans claim to be "boycotting" the show.

A petition with more than 100,000 signatures called for the NFL to change the Super Bowl 60 halftime show performer. Thousands of NFL fans on social media have announced that they won't be watching.

"I won’t be watching," one fan wrote.

"Sure be a shame if everyone changed the channel right when Bad Bunny comes out. Anyone know anything else on to watch?" another influencer wrote.

"I’m turning off the Super Bowl at halftime next week so I don’t have to watch his politics," another fan suggested.

"If the @nfl features 'Bad Bunny' at halftime, I won’t watch the game. And I’ve seen every Super Bowl since #1. Go Pack Go," one fan added.

Longtime journalist accuses 'boycotting' fans of lying

Longtime journalist Richard Roeper isn't buying the claims. He thinks that the fans claiming to be "boycotting" the halftime show are lying and just saying it for attention.

"f you say you’re boycotting the NFL over the Bad Bunny Super Bowl halftime show, what you’re really saying is you didn’t boycott the NFL the last three times you said you were boycotting the NFL," he joked, referencing things like Black Lives Matter and the national anthem protests.

There have been several "boycott the NFL" moments over the past 5 to 10 years.

The league, though, remains as popular as ever. More than 100 million people are expected to tune into the game on Sunday.
