Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth are back on NBC.
The Seattle Seahawks are hosting the New England Patriots in a Super Bowl 60 rematch to open the 2026 NFL regular season. The Seahawks trounced the Patriots in the Super Bowl last season. Seattle will look to open the 2026 regular season in a big way.
But disaster is developing for Seattle.
The Seahawks have already lost starting quarterback Sam Darnold to injury. Darnold suffered a hip injury in the first quarter. He has been declared questionable to return.
NBC’s Collinsworth is facing criticism for his initial reaction to the injury. NBC seemed to be a bit casual in discussing Darnold’s injury. Minutes later, he was out of the game and limping off the field.

NFL fans criticizing Collinsworth for his performance
“Collinsworth just said the Seattle OLine has been dominant as Sam Darnold limps into the X-ray room after five snaps,” one fan wrote.
“Collinsworth in mid season form, talking about Seattle’s dominant o line as Darnold in the locker room getting x rays,” one fan added.
“NBC did not do a good job of handling this injury from Darnold on Wednesday evening,” another fan added.
It certainly didn’t look like anything too serious for Darnold when it happened, but moments later, things changed in a big way. Darnold was ruled questionable to return.
Collinsworth and NBC are facing criticism for their handling of the injury.
