The NFL is facing blowback for its latest Super Bowl 60 performance announcement.
The league announced this week that GreenDay will be headlining a pregame performance at Super Bowl 60. The league previously announced that President Trump critic would be headlining the halftime show. Now, GreenDay, which has also spoken out against President Trump's administration, has been tapped for a performance.
“We are super hyped to open Super Bowl 60 right in our backyard!” the band's frontman Billie Jo Armstrong, who hails from the Bay Area, said in a statement.
“We are honored to welcome the MVPs who’ve shaped the game and open the night for fans all over the world. Let’s have fun! Let’s get loud!”
Super Bowl 60 is set to be played in the Bay Area in Santa Clara, California.

The band has been outspoken in its criticism of President Trump.
The band's frontman has changed lyrics to his songs. In one, he changed them from “I’m not a part of a redneck agenda” to “I’m not a part of a MAGA agenda.” In other, he called President Trump a "fat (expletive)."
President Trump previously expressed frustration with the league going with Bad Bunny. Others have agreed.
"If it wasn’t disrespectful enough Bad Bunny will be performing at the halftime show, but the NFL have announced Green Day will be the main performance at the Superbowl LX Opening Ceremony. The @NFL hates America," one fan wrote.
"Sorry i’m actually still cracking up at the NFL bringing in GreenDay for the Super Bowl like they hate Republicans," one fan added.
President Trump sounds off on Super Bowl performance decisions
It's safe to say that President Trump isn't thrilled.
"I never heard of him, I don’t know who he is, I don’t know why they’re doing it, it’s like, crazy,” President Trump said of the Grammy winner Bad Bunny.
“I think it’s absolutely ridiculous,” the president added.
