NFL commissioner Roger Goodell earned praise on Friday, not only for taking on the "ALS Ice Bucket Challenge" but also for helping with the cause.
Before the 2026 Pro Football Hall of Fame ceremony on Friday, the NFL posted a video of Goodell doing the "Ice Bucket Challenge" with the help of former NFL running backs Emmitt Smith and Thurman Thomas.
In the video, Goodell shared his support for three-time Pro Bowler Chris Johnson, who announced in June that he has been diagnosed with ALS, a disease that currently has no cure.
Goodell also mentioned former NFL players Steve Gleason, Tim Green and OJ Brigance, who are dealing with ALS as well.

Aside from that, however, Goodell revealed that the NFL Foundation is making a charitable donation to the Healey & AMG Center for ALS, an institution that aims to "develop personalized, targeted treatments to cure ALS."
"We're going to give [a] $500,000 grant from the NFL Foundation to our partners at Healey & AMG Center for ALS at Mass. General Hospital," Goodell said in the clip.
Fans were quick to heap praise on Goodell for his latest move, with one even saying, "MVP."
"That's a W," a commenter said. Another one added, "It's very cool that he did this. Amazing to see what the NFL family does for something like this. I would love to see them rally around causes more, or publicize their efforts even more. Call me naive, it’s nice to see good news for a change."
"Goodell been growing on me past few szns. W commish," a poster noted.
"This is dope," a fan stated.
A supporter shared, "MAN. This is cool."
