Kenneth Walker has been a big part of the Kansas City Chiefs’ strong start to the NFL season. The Super Bowl LX MVP currently has 106 carries for 665 yards and six rushing touchdowns through five games.
Kansas City picked up its fifth straight win on Sunday, defeating the Los Angeles Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium, 22-6. The Chiefs defense allowed zero touchdowns.
Walker scored two rushing touchdowns after carrying the ball 19 times for 128 yards.
The NFL took to social media on Tuesday to announce an update involving Walker. The league highlighted the Chiefs running back as the current leader in rushing yards through Week 6.
Bijan Robinson of the Atlanta Falcons ranks second with 641 rushing yards. James Cook of the Buffalo Bills ranks third with 627 yards, while Baltimore Ravens RB Derrick Henry is fourth with 534. Rounding out the top five is Jahmyr Gibbs of the Detroit Lions with 504 yards.
Walker’s feat is even more impressive because he’s only played five games this season since the Chiefs had a bye in Week 5. Aside from Gibbs, the other three players in the top five have played six games.
Walker spent his first four years with the Seattle Seahawks, who drafted him with the 41st overall pick in 2022. He played a major role in their success, particularly during their Super Bowl run last season. He carried the ball 27 times for 135 yards in the championship game, leading the Seahawks to a win against the New England Patriots.
The Chiefs will look to extend their winning streak on Sunday when they travel to Lumen Field to face the Seahawks. This will be Walker’s first game against his former team since joining the Chiefs in the offseason.
