Troy Aikman and Joe Buck will be leading the way for ESPN this NFL season, as the network prepares to cover its first-ever Super Bowl.
ESPN will have the broadcast of Super Bowl 61, set for SoFi Stadium in Southern California. it’s the cable network’s first-ever Super Bowl broadcast. ESPN will be going all-out with Super Bowl 61 coverage, as the network has announced grand plans for its big game debut.
Aikman and Buck, meanwhile, are being “credited” with bringing a Super Bowl to ESPN.
“Aikman and Buck got a fortune, but they also brought a Super Bowl to ESPN,” Chris Russo said, via Awful Announcing.
“Because I don’t know if they would have gotten a Super Bowl unless they had those guys because that’s how important they are, Aikman and Buck…so a little different for them. But to pay the top guys $17 million to do the games, we’re gonna watch the games no matter what. Not one announcer – and that includes Madden – if you gave Madden a lousy game, you’re not gonna watch it…nobody is watching these games to see the announcers.”

Aikman typically sticks to football, having won three Super Bowls with the Dallas Cowboys, before getting into the broadcasting world.
But he’s made it clear where he stands politically, too. And the NFL announcer refuses to apologize for it.
Aikman’s political leanings clear in 2026
Aikman has made multiple donations to the Republican Party, records show.
“While those comments have inspired football fans to theorize that the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback is a Democrat, records show that Aikman had donated more than $40,000 to Republican causes since 1999,” the report states.
Aikman’s beer company, Eight, has taken shots at “woke” Bud Light, too.
“At Eight, we believe in truth and authenticity. Our company is proudly based right here in Texas and all of our beer is brewed right here in the good ‘ol USA. So, I’ve gotta call it like it is. There are a lot of beer brands out there that are trying to cash in on this holiday by slapping an American flag on their package. Regardless of whether or not they are truly American,” Aikman said, perhaps taking a shot at Bud Light.
“So this July 4th, drink American – whether it’s Eight beer or any other American owned beer brand. And on behalf of all of us out here, we appreciate your support. Cheers.”
The NFL announcer has also shown major praise for Paramount’s “Landman” show, which has taken repeated shots at many on the left.
Ultimately, Aikman is allowed to believe whatever he wants when it comes to politics, as long as it doesn’t get ESPN in trouble. The NFL announcer is of course incredibly professional in that regard.
Aikman will be making his “Monday Night Football” debut a week from tonight, when the Chiefs take on the Broncos at 8:15 p.m. E.T.
The game will air on ESPN.
