Brazil's 2026 World Cup run came to an end on Sunday, as they dropped their Round of 16 match against Norway, 2-1.
Both goals for the Norwegian side came from Erling Haaland, while Brazil's lone goal of the match came in the 99th minute on a penalty kick from Neymar. The goal marked the first of the tournament for the 34-year-old forward who was once viewed as the face of Brazil's program.
Amid speculation that this could be his final cap for Brazil, as injuries have constantly plagued him over the past couple of years, and with him being one of the final inclusions in this year's squad, Neymar announced after the loss that this was indeed his final World Cup.
Neymar walks away from international play as Brazil's top scorer in the history of the national team, racking up 80 goals in his 129 appearances.
He debuted for Brazil in 2010 at just 18 years old, and was quickly recognized as one of the sport's biggest stars.

In total, Neymar appeared in four World Cups and two Olympics for Brazil. He led his home country to a gold medal in the 2016 games, which took place in Rio de Janeiro.
For Norway, they will play the winner of Mexico vs. England in the quarterfinals.
