The 2026 season has quickly turned into a nightmare for the New York Mets.

Despite having right-hander Nolan McLean on the mound Tuesday night, the Mets were unable to take care of business against the Minnesota Twins. They jumped out to a 3-0 lead thanks to a home run from Francisco Lindor, but that wasn't enough to end their losing streak.

Mets relief pitcher Devin Williams imploded in the ninth inning with the score tied 3-3. He faced five batters and gave up two runs without recording a single out. That was the final dagger for the Mets as they dropped their 12th game in a row.

"I felt a little out of sync mechanically," Williams said. "I couldn't really land my changeup for a strike. So it was tough to try and just beat guys with just a fastball."

As if the results on the diamond weren't bad enough on Tuesday, a brawl broke out in the crowd at Citi Field.

A fan was arrested by the New York Police Department for his role in this fight. According to the New York Post, he grabbed a woman in the row in front of him.

Footage of the NYPD removing the unruly fan from Citi Field has generated a ton of buzz on social media.

Mets making the wrong kind of history.

The Mets are currently on their longest losing streak since August 2002. According to ESPN Research, the previous 138 teams to suffer a 12-game losing streak in the World Series era have failed to make the postseason.

"Nobody's feeling it more than us players," McLean said. "Guys are showing up early, getting their work in. Everybody's working their butts off. So it stings to go out there and not be able to get it done."

Although it's been a rough stretch for the Mets, the good news is that Juan Soto will return this Wednesday. He's been sidelined since April 3 with a calf injury.

We'll see if the Mets end their losing streak this Wednesday against the Twins.
