Sabrina Ionescu and the New York Liberty saw their two-game winning streak come to an end on Tuesday, dropping to 22-15 on the 2026 WNBA season after a 93-86 loss to Natasha Cloud and the Chicago Sky. Now, the Liberty will turn their attention to Saturday’s matchup, returning home to host Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever.
Ionescu has continued her stellar play during her seventh season in New York. The former Oregon Ducks star is averaging 16.1 points on 42.1% shooting, 5.1 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game.
However, Ionescu has been forced to sit out 13 of the Liberty’s 37 games so far this year due to numerous injuries, including her ankle/foot and her back.

But Ionescu suffered a different injury to her lower left leg in the third quarter of last Thursday’s win over the Los Angeles Sparks, but she was able to return for the rest of the game a few minutes later. The Liberty elected to sit their star guard as a precaution three days later for the matchup against the Connecticut Sun.
Before the Sky matchup, Ionescu was listed as questionable due to the same leg issue but was later upgraded to available and went on to tally a double-double of 18 points and 12 assists.
And ahead of the Fever game, any potential concerns about Ionescu’s injury are no longer there, as New York has taken the guard off the injury report. However, center Jonquel Jones (left ankle) and forward Lionie Fiebich (left foot) were listed as questionable, while forward Satou Sabally is still out with a head issue.
“A promising injury report for the Liberty tomorrow: Jonquel Jones – QUESTIONABLE (L. Ankle). Leonie Fiebich – QUESTIONABLE (L. Foot). Satou Sabally – NWT (Head),” New York Liberty reporter Myles Ehrlich wrote on X. “Sabrina Ionescu, who returned last game from an ankle injury, is not on the injury report at all.”
The Liberty and Fever will clash at Barclays Center on Saturday at 7 p.m. ET.
