Help is on the way for the New York Jets, who have been missing some key players on offense.

Jets running back Breece Hall has teased on social media that he could return from a quad injury for the 2-4 team’s game against the winless Miami Dolphins this weekend.

A quadriceps injury is damage to the four muscles or tendon on the front of the thigh, commonly caused by a muscle strain, direct bruise (contusion), or tendon tear. Symptoms include sudden sharp pain, swelling, bruising, and trouble straightening the knee. All are key attributes for an NFL running back.

Hall sustained the injury at the end of the Detroit Lions game in Week 3. At the time, it wasn’t considered major, but he’s since missed three games. In his stead, backup Braelon Allen has been a tremendous replacement, and could share time in the backfield with Hall.

In other news, the long-lost Adonai Mitchell is expected to return to practice today on a limited basis. Mitchell injured his finger when he caught it in the jersey of a teammate during practice. He was off to a good start in his season, firmly establishing his credentials as the No. 2 receiver.

However, his injury proved to be a bit of a Jets conundrum. Mitchell has missed the last four games and was not placed on injured reserve, thus taking up a roster spot that could have been put to better use.

There was a question on what kind of injury he had, and head coach Aaron Glenn finally had to admit that Mitchell underwent some sort of “procedure” on his injured digits. When he will be a full-go to return is still up in the air, and the team is now saying pain tolerance will be a factor. Mitchell has nine catches for 123 yards in two games.

Also on the mend is left guard Dylan Parham, who has now missed three games with a knee injury. Parham was a steadying presence on the left side of the line, and had high PFF scores during his playing time.

In his Wednesday address to the media, head coach Glenn said that Hall’s return wouldn’t disrupt the backfield flow.

“Breece is our starter, he’s always been our starter,” Glenn said. “But, as always, Braelon’s going to get his touches, too.”

In new injury news, defensive tackle T’Vondre Sweat and edge rusher Will McDonald were listed as limited on the injury report.

Running back/kick returner Kene Nwangwu, who took some punishing hits on the return squad in the New England game, will sit out practices for now

Glenn added that edge rusher Joseph Ossai (ankle) and linebacker Kiko Mauigoa (thigh) will be week to week. It’s likely neither will play against Miami.
