After their heated showdown on Monday that saw five players receive technical fouls, including Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever and Phoenix Mercury returned to action on Wednesday for a rematch at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Similar to their previous game, the showdown between the two teams was highly physical once again. In fact, Clark got involved in another incident.
In the first half of the game, Clark tried to attack the basket but slipped and fell to the floor. The Mercury quickly took advantage and attempted to steal the ball from her while she was down.
What happened during the fight for the ball sparked plenty of reactions, however, as Thomas was seen making contact with Clark's throat after she lost the ball. Making matters worse, the Mercury playmaker stepped over Clark just a few seconds later.

Naturally, fans were angered by the incident, with many calling Thomas dirty. The referees also didn't call a foul on Thomas, which only fueled the outrage.
"Immediately should've been a tech. AT plays dirty and it’s uncalled for. These refs are a joke," a commenter wrote. A surprised viewer said, "I honestly don’t watch a lot of WNBA games but am watching this one, I mean, is this normal for her?! My goodness!!"
"This is nothing new. Alyssa Thomas has played dirty for years. Dirty, dirty player," a poster added.
A social media user shared, "This is dirtyyy! Not okay, idc if you don’t like her." Another one said, "CC claps, technical. AT punches CC in the throat, that’s fine. What a joke."
"Unbelievable!! No call too!" a sixth supporter exclaimed.
