The Tennessee Titans have a long season ahead of them, but following their victory vs. the San Francisco 49ers, Luke Easterling from within the Athlon Sports network shared his thoughts on who the Titans will draft in a way-too-early mock draft.
Here is who he had the Titans selecting.
Colin Simmons – EDGE (Picked No. 5 By the Tennessee Titans)

“Robert Saleh should have the Titans’ defense turned around sooner rather than later, and landing an elite edge rusher would accelerate the process. Simmons can win with both speed and power off the edge, and he arrives at the ball-carrier with the violence and awareness to knock the ball loose and create splash plays. Teaming him up with Keldric Faulk would give Tennessee a promising young tandem,” Easterling said when detailing the reasoning.
Is This a Good or Bad Projected Move for the Tennessee Titans?

In my opinion, this would be a bad move. In fact, I believe this is a move that the Titans should go ahead and shy away from now. By no means is Colin Simmons bad. One could argue that he is the best EDGE in college football, and I believe that is true, but there are much bigger needs for the Titans than the EDGE position.
It is no secret that the Titans have John Franklin-Myers and Jeffery Simmons on the inside, and both of these players have experience with some EDGE work. However, that isn’t even needed, as the Titans have four solid EDGE rushers on the roster. The two that are expected to start at this time are Jacob Martin and Jermaine Johnson II.
Johnson II is the player who many have forgotten about, as this is a contract year for him. He is also a player who will need to be extended regardless because of the move that they made to trade T’Vondre Sweat for Johnson II. Martin is the player who the Titans have the best chance of moving off of, but it is safe to say that the Titans have two solid young EDGE players, as they have former second-round selection and second-year EDGE Oluwafemi Oladejo, and rookie first-round selection Keldric Faulk.
At this time, it seems that the smarter choice would be a player like Trevor Goosby, or Jordan Seaton if they can get their hands on him
