Stephanie White and the Indiana Fever have strengthened their roster ahead of the 2026 WNBA season by recruiting Monique Billings. The 29-year-old forward signed a two-year, $1.6 million contract with Indiana.
Billings joined the Fever after a standout campaign with the Golden State Valkyries. She played a key role in the team’s 23–21 finish and playoff appearance in its debut season. The Valkyries made history by becoming the first WNBA expansion franchise to reach the playoffs.
In her one-year stint with Golden State, the WNBA veteran made 26 appearances. She averaged 7.3 points and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting 47.7 percent from the field. Billings also recorded 21 blocks and 16 steals over the season.

Before joining the Valkyries, Billings built her WNBA career with the Atlanta Dream from 2018 to 2023. In 2024, she had stints with the Dallas Wings and the Phoenix Mercury. Across her 239-game WNBA career, the 6-foot-4 forward has averaged 6.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.
As she joined the Fever, Billings shared an honest impression of coach White. In an Instagram video shared by the team, she described White as an energetic and fiery presence on the sidelines.
“I would say Steph's a firecracker,” the eight-year veteran said. “I love her energy. I love how she's just passionate. I love playing for a passionate coach.”
Billings added that she draws inspiration from White’s experience as a former player and is excited to develop under her leadership.
“Obviously, she played the game before, so I feed off of that,” Billings continued. “I could tell just by the way that she coaches, her energy and all of that. So, excited to continue to be coached by her.”
White played in the WNBA from 1999 to 2004. She spent one season with the Charlotte Sting and four with Indiana before becoming a coach. White later won the 2023 WNBA Coach of the Year.
Billings is already familiar with White’s coaching style. The pair were part of Team USA at the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament. The event took place in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in March.
The U.S. senior national team posted a perfect 5–0 record. White served as an assistant coach, while Billings appeared in five contests, averaging 6.4 points and 3.2 rebounds per game.
Billings and White also recently worked together at the U.S. Women's National Team training camp in Phoenix, Arizona. The camp was used to evaluate players for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup in Berlin, Germany, in September. The U.S. will be aiming for its fifth straight World Cup gold medal.
