Before Caitlin Clark arrived in the WNBA as the Indiana Fever’s No. 1 pick in 2024, she made history in college basketball by becoming the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer (both men’s and women’s) with 3,951 total career points.
Now in the pros, Clark continues to be a record-breaker. In her first year alone, she set a new mark for the most points (769) and assists (337) by a rookie.
Earlier this season, the Fever All-Star also made history by becoming the first WNBA player ever to have a 40-point, 10-assists game. She achieved the feat against the Seattle Storm, recording 45 points, 10 assists, four steals, two rebounds and two blocks.

Despite the incredible season Clark is having, however, the NCAA interestingly opted not to mention her when posting about former NCAA stars who are setting records in the WNBA.
The NCAA March Madness WBB, the official account of NCAA DI Women’s Basketball, recently posted a video featuring the recent records set by A’ja Wilson, Paige Bueckers, Olivia Miles and Angel Reese.
NCAA Facing Backlash Over Caitlin Clark Snub
Fans quickly took notice that Clark was not included despite the fact that she recently set a WNBA record for the most 30-point, 10-assist games in WNBA history. Clark recorded the fifth of such games in her career against the Chicago Sky on Sunday.
It’s worth noting that the rest of the WNBA has combined for only four such games.
“I would like to know who exactly, working for the NCAA, chose to post praise of the recent pro exploits of several former college stars while omitting Caitlin Clark’s recent achievements. This screams intentional. Who was responsible and why?” sports commentator Skip Bayless wrote about the NCAA move.
“Is the NCAA just trolling at this point? All of these women belong, but how can you leave out the leading scorer in the history of NCAA basketball, women’s or men’s?” added Keith Murphy, a sports host based in Iowa.
Sports reporter Owen Siebring noted, “I try really really hard not to think in a conspiratorial manner when the WNBA or NCAA leaves Caitlin out of their graphics or posters or tributes… But they are making it really hard to ignore.”
“Imagine running the official NCAA March Madness account, posting about former NCAA stars setting WNBA records, and leaving out the woman who owns the NCAA scoring record AND started smashing WNBA records the second she arrived. More agenda-driven stupidity,” sports account Sports Patriot stated.
“This is pathetic. Caitlin Clark is the showstopper, the main event, and the icon,” an angry fan exclaimed.
“Wow. Just wow. Why have the NCAA all-time leading scorer who has more records than all the players in the promo combined? Makes perfect sense. Nothing to see here. It’s all very normal,” CDS Sports Podcast shared.
For what it’s worth, the NCAA did honor Clark when she achieved the 40-point, 10-assist milestone in July. The account even made a solo post to celebrate Clark’s achievement.
Still, considering Clark’s recent exploits in the WNBA, it’s not surprising that many were confused about why she wasn’t included in the NCAA’s latest post.
