Trinidad Chambliss torched the SEC in 2025, leading the conference in passing yards with 3,937 while posting 22 touchdowns against just three interceptions.

Following his blockbuster performance, the Ole Miss Rebels quarterback wants one more crack at the college game, but the NCAA has repeatedly denied his sixth-year eligibility waiver. So, now the school is making another push.

Chambliss finished eighth in Heisman Trophy voting and received two first-place votes. And he helped the Rebels to a school-record 13 wins and their first College Football Playoff appearance. Ole Miss advanced to the CFP semifinals before falling to the Miami Hurricanes.

But Chambliss' college career is in jeopardy after a 2022 season at Division II Ferris State in Michigan, where severe respiratory issues limited him to just two games.

The NCAA first denied Chambliss' waiver request in January, then rejected his appeal earlier this month, claiming medical documentation showed Chambliss chose to forgo surgery in 2022 so "he could participate in the football season" and opted for medication management instead.

Ole Miss filed a reconsideration with the NCAA on Monday, according to Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger. He reported that the reconsideration is expected to focus on new evidence from Chambliss’ 2022 season at Ferris State, where he says he should have received a medical redshirt after a severe case of tonsillitis.

The stakes are massive here, as reports claimed Chambliss has a deal with the Rebels for 2026 worth more than $5 million. If he secures a sixth year of eligibility, he will get that massive NIL money, which is more than a mid-round NFL draft pick.

Chambliss also filed a lawsuit against the NCAA seeking an injunction to allow him to suit up for the Rebels. The hearing for the temporary injunction is scheduled for Thursday at the Calhoun County Courthouse in Pittsboro, Mississippi.

If Ole Miss and Chambliss fail in their bid to earn him another year of eligibility, Chambliss will enter the 2026 NFL Draft. ESPN's Mel Kiper ranks Chambliss as the third-best quarterback on his Big Board behind Indiana Hoosiers' Fernando Mendoza and Alabama Crimson Tide's Ty Simpson.
