NBC has issued an apology after mis-gendering an athlete at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.
The 2026 Winter Olympics are pushing forward on Wednesday. Several events have already awarded medals, including men's and women's downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, speed skating and more. Men's and women's hockey are getting underway, too.
However, this week, NBC made a mistake while referring to skier Elis Lundholm as "she" during the moguls competition. Lundholm does not identify that way.

Lundholm identifies as a man, but competes in the women's division, as he hasn't had any "gender-affirming" surgeries and does not take testosterone.
The skier prefers "he/him" pronouns and wants people to refer to them as a man.
NBC issued an apology
NBC mistakenly referred to the skier as "she" during the moguls competition this week.
The network issued an apology.
"NBC Sports takes this matter seriously," an NBC spokesperson said in a statement to OutKick. "We streamed an international feed with non-NBCUniversal commentators who misgendered Olympian Elis Lundholm. We apologize to Elis and our viewers, and we have removed the replay of that feed."
Lundholm ended up finishing 29th out of 30 skiers in the first qualification run.
