Vince Carter had an iconic NBA career that lasted 22 years. The 6-foot-6 guard-forward was named Rookie of the Year in his debut season with the Toronto Raptors. He went on to make eight All-Star appearances and two All-NBA call-ups. In 2024, Carter was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Carter is the cousin of another legendary NBA player, Tracy McGrady. A two-time scoring champion and a seven-time All-Star, McGrady also had a memorable 15-year run in the NBA. Like his cousin, McGrady is also a Hall of Famer, having been inducted in 2017.

On Tuesday, the cousins made a joint announcement via social media.

Carter and McGrady are jumping on the podcast trend. Through the years, professional athletes — both active and retired — have started their own podcasts. More than a few of them have found tremendous success.

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James, for instance, launched his own podcast in 2024. “Mind the Game” was originally co-hosted by JJ Redick before he was hired as the Lakers’ head coach. Two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash took over as James’ partner after Redick’s departure.

On the NFL side, Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce has a highly popular podcast with his brother, Philadelphia Eagles icon Jason Kelce. “New Heights” has won multiple awards and is widely considered one of the top sports podcasts today.

Carter and McGrady are looking to find the same level of success with their new career venture. On Wednesday, they announced their new podcast.

“The game changes, family doesn’t. COUSINS with @mrvincecarter15 and @tmac. New podcast coming soon. 👀 Head to the link in bio to subscribe now. 🎙️🏀” the post read.

“Tracy and I have seen this game from every angle, as players, as family, and as fans of the current era,” Carter said, via a press release. “With ‘Cousins,’ we get to give fans the real stories behind the highlights they’ve watched a million times and the defining moments that shaped our careers, while also breaking down today’s game.”

McGrady also claimed that “this isn’t your typical podcast.” He added that the show will offer “up-close, personal conversations between two players who helped shape one of the most electric eras in basketball.”

The first episode of “Cousins” will be released on Jan. 28.
