Duke superstar Cam Boozer has a golden opportunity to go from ACC Player of the Year to NBA Rookie of the Year.
The son of former NBA star Carlos Boozer had an exceptional 2025-26 season at Duke. He averaged 22.5 points and 10.2 rebounds per game, which led to him being named The Associated Press Men's National Player of the Year.
"It just goes to show more about what our team has done, just because I think that really helps awards like this, having great team success," Boozer told the AP. "It's really just not me."
Although he didn't win a national title for the Blue Devils this past season, Boozer proved that he's worthy of being a top-five pick in the NBA Draft.
Boozer's girlfriend, Yva Lauren Cao, is clearly ready for him to begin the next chapter of his basketball career.
For those who don't know, Cao is an accomplished student-athlete in her own right. The University of Miami cheerleader once earned First Team All-Dade honors.
According to heavy.com, Boozer and Cao's relationship dates back to their days at Christopher Columbus High School.
Where will Cam Boozer end up?
As of now, ESPN projects Boozer to go No. 3 overall to the Memphis Grizzlies. He'd give their franchise a much-needed playmaker in the frontcourt.
"Although the way the lottery played out seems likely to slot Boozer third, his addition would be no less massive for the Grizzlies, who moved up three spots in the draw last month," ESPN's Jeremy Woo wrote. "Boozer would represent a fresh start, with Ja Morant potentially on the move in the trade market. Boozer's comfort level on the perimeter makes him an intriguing frontcourt partner for Zach Edey in what could be a standout offensive pairing."
We'll see if Boozer ends up becoming an All-Star like his father.
