Monday Night Football between the Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3 got off to a memorable start, thanks to the national anthem performance. Unlike the usual pregame performances, this particular one was performed by a Mexican mariachi band.

The Mariachi Herencia de Mexico came out and performed the United States’ national anthem in front of fans at Soldier Field in Chicago. Their rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” was part of the Bears’ celebration of Latino Heritage Month.

The group also made history by becoming the first mariachi ensemble to perform the anthem for the Bears franchise in its 106-year history, according to the Chicago Tribune. It was also part of the night’s festivities, which featured entertainment and fan activities that paid tribute to Chicago’s Latin community.

The Mexican group’s pregame performance grabbed a lot of attention, with plenty of fans loving the national anthem rendition.

“We were there and it was beautiful!!” a fan said. “Hermoso! Beautifully done,” another added.

A supporter mentioned, “I’m not even Mexican and I loved every single second of it! It was beautiful! Even teared up a bit.”

“They just made it more awesome! Tears filled my eyes! I love chicago and mi cultura! Thank you NFL, this was wholesome,” a follower remarked.

“Just another example of how diversity just makes everything more magical. So good,” a poster shared.

“This was really cool,” a sixth social media user reacted.

Making things even better, the Bears defeated the Eagles 27-7. Despite playing without the injured Caleb Williams against Super Bowl-winning quarterback Jalen Hurts, Chicago dominated behind a two-touchdown performance from Case Keenum.

Chicago improved to a 2-1 record with the win. They will face the New York Jets next in Week 4.
