The Jacksonville Jaguars were included in a newly updated Super Bowl prediction, but were they picked to win the Big Game against their NFC opponent? The answer is yes!
Pete Prisco, a senior NFL columnist for CBSSports.com, recently took notice as he picked the Jaguars to face off against the Dallas Cowboys in Super Bowl 61 (LXI) and win the whole damn thing.
“I think this offense is going to be so good. I think Dak Prescott’s finally going to get the flowers he deserves, and I think he’s going to put up big numbers and might even be in the MVP conversation this year,” Prisco told colleague Hailey Sutton. “The Cowboys win this game and advance to the Super Bowl. So you guys can see me. I’m smiling. I’m so happy. This is the Cowboys’ first Super Bowl appearance since the 1990s. This is all great. This is all fun.”
“But you’re going to ruin my fun here because our Super Bowl matchup is the Jags and the Cowboys, and who wins? And again, two really good offensive teams that are going to score a lot of points. It’ll be a fun Super Bowl, but in the end, I think Trevor Lawrence will make the play late to win it. Jacksonville wins their first-ever Super Bowl. In fact, the first one they ever get to. And you could call me a homer all you want, but you know what? I’d rather be right,” Prisco said.
This just adds to the hype that surrounds the Jaguars as they’re coming off their 13-4 AFC South championship season entering 2026-27.
Prisco isn’t the only national pundit who is on the Jacksonville bandwagon for 2026.
Other analysts back Jacksonville too
Chris Simms of NBC Sports declared the Jaguars “a Super Bowl football team.”
Peter Schrager named Jacksonville his early pick to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl.
Prisco also said he believes Trevor Lawrence will be an MVP candidate again this season and believes the quarterback should have finished third in the voting last year, not fifth.
“In the end, I think Trevor Lawrence will make the play late to win it. Jacksonville wins their first-ever Super Bowl, in fact, the first one they ever get to…You can call me a homer all you want…but I’d rather be right.”
The national media still has doubts overall about the Jaguars team this year though as ESPN recently ranked Jacksonville 17th in its latest set of NFL power rankings. With 32 teams, that makes the Jaguars the top team in the bottom half of the league.
Only time will tell if last year was real or a fluke in Liam Coen’s first season. Either way, the hype and excitement around this team is real.
The Super Bowl will be played in Inglewood, California, on Sunday, February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium.
