Alabama had another strong college basketball season in 2025-26.
Head coach Nate Oats led the program to the NCAA Tournament for a sixth consecutive season before the Crimson Tide lost to the Michigan Wolverines in the Sweet 16, 90-77. The Tide beat the Hofstra Pride and the Texas Tech Red Raiders to get to the Sweet 16.
Despite another good year, the Tide are losing one of their players to the transfer portal. According to On3/Rivals' Joe Tipton, Alabama forward Aiden Sherrell is planning to enter the portal.
Sherrell just wrapped up his sophomore season, averaging 11.1 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. It came after he finished his freshman season, averaging 3.4 points and 2.8 rebounds per game.
He scored 35 combined points in the 2026 NCAA Tournament and had his best overall game against Arkansas on Feb. 18. Alabama won that game 117-115 in double overtime, and Sherrell finished the game with 26 points and 13 rebounds.
Sherrell will now look for a new home for the 2026-27 season, which will start in the fall.
Alabama head coach Nate Oats just wrapped up his seventh season as the program's head coach and has a 170-73 record in Tuscaloosa. He led Alabama to the Final Four during the 2023-24 season.
Before arriving in Alabama, Oats coached at Buffalo for four seasons, leading the program to the NCAA Tournament three times. He has a 266-116 overall record as a head coach.
He will try to lead the Tide to a national title next season.
