NASCAR has completed its first road course race of the season at Circuit of the Americas. This is a race where Tyler Reddick earned his third straight victory for 23XI Racing. This is a mark never before seen in the modern era of NASCAR.
Not far behind Reddick was road course ringer, Shane Van Gisbergen. SVG remains winless at Circuit of the Americas in three attempts, a statistic that surprises many fans. With the new points format in play, we see an updated standings that has Reddick commanding the lead and both expected and unexpected names rounding out the top-10.

Highest Risers After COTA

Ty Gibbs: 33rd > 17th (+16)
After a week of bad publicity for Joe Gibbs Racing and Ty Gibbs specifically, Gibbs rose to the occasion as this week's highest mover. Gibbs finished 4th in the race, plus a 6th place Stage One finish and a 1st place Stage Two finish. He earns the most points outside of Tyler Reddick this week.
Shane van Gisbergen: 16th > 5th (+11)
The road course tour de force moves up 11 spots, despite already impressing with a strong result in Atlanta. Van Gisbergen earned a 2nd-place finish, plus two top-10 stage results. It will be interesting to see how the New Zealander fares at the upcoming ovals on the schedule.
Michael McDowell: 20th > 9th (+11)
McDowell was one of the strongest cars on the track all day Sunday. Despite failing to ever contest the lead, McDowell earned a 5th-place finish, plus a 3rd-place Stage One finish. If it weren't for a short-pit strategy at the end of Stage Two, McDowell would have earned a top-5 finish in all three stages.
AJ Allmendinger: 18th > 8th (+10)
Allmendinger and Kaulig Racing look strong, relatively speaking, to start the season. They earned a strong result in Atlanta, and this week, Allmendinger battled heat exhaustion to finish 9th with 33 total points. He is currently in 8th place in the overall standings.
Lowest Fallers After COTA
Chase Briscoe: 15th > 27th (-12)
Briscoe's day ended early amid car issues and a trip to pit road, which ended their race. For the first half of the day, Briscoe contested the top 5 with his strong-performing Toyota. The team went on to finish in last place, earning a total of 1 point.
Zane Smith: 5th > 14th (-9)
Smith finished running in 33rd place, earning zero stage points and five total points on the day. His superspeedway dominance falters his standing, and Front Row Motorsports will hope to reel back a strong car next week at Phoenix.
Playoff Bubble
Ryan Preece sits squarely upon the bubble in 16th place. That RFK Racing car expects to be a pure bubble car, being good enough to make the playoffs and bad enough to miss it. Despite being historically terrible at COTA, Preece did earn a top-20 finish.
Ty Gibbs rises the highest of any car this week, now sitting one spot outside of the bubble. No Joe Gibbs Racing driver has ever missed the playoffs in three straight seasons, so the task is tall for the Gibbs grandson.
Kyle Larson, on the other hand, sits in 15th place. He must get back into the top-10 and soon enough, the top-5. The defending champion is clearly underperforming, but he will now get prime tracks for his skillset at Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Darlington.
