Drake Maye isn’t sure if we landed on the moon.
The New England Patriots quarterback said during a Monday appearance on WEEI that the moon landing conspiracy theories – that we didn’t actually land on it and that it was staged by the government – are ones that he can believe.
“I don’t know about the moon, you know,” he said. “I think I can see back in the day why we would put on the mask if we went there, but I’m not really sure 200% if we went there or not. I wouldn’t say I’m leaning one way or the other. I just know I’m a little bit skeptical.”
Maye, who attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, said he took a conspiracy theories course in college.
“They studied [Adolf] Hitler being alive and, ‘Are birds real?’ — some of the classic ones that you hear about,” he explained.

NASA, though, is firing back.
“I quite literally have the receipts,” NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman replied under Boston 25 News’ post about Maye’s comments on the conspiracy theories.
Maye isn’t alone in his conspiracy theory beliefs, though. Previous polling has suggested that about 5 percent of Americans believe in the moon landing hoax theories.
“They’re very vocal — and they love to confront you,” NASA chief historian Roger Launius said.
Maye, of course, has bigger things to worry about right now. The Patriots are coming off a big win over the Bills, but they have still looked shaky at times this season.
New England, 2-2 on the year, will be taking on the 3-1 Raiders on Sunday.
Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. E.T. on CBS.
