The Los Angeles Rams are heading to Australia to take on the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1.
It’s one of the most highly anticipated matchups of opening week. Both teams were elite in 2025, and both expect to contend again in 2026. This will be a great litmus test for both teams, and even though no games have been played, there are some notable injury situations.
It was already announced that star defender Aaron Donald will not play in this game, and now the team’s other superstar addition is at risk of missing the game as well.
Myles Garrett Added to Injury Report

Myles Garrett did not practice on Tuesday due to a knee injury. That’s a concerning development, especially because Garrett hasn’t practiced much over the last month.
However, head coach Sean McVay isn’t mincing words. The head coach is adamant that Garrett will indeed play against the 49ers.
Garrett was involved in one of the biggest trades in recent memory this offseason. The Rams gave up Jared Verse and picks for the future Hall of Famer, and the hope is that Garrett can get the Rams back over the hump. Garrett set the NFL single-season sack record just last year with the Browns.
Garrett wasn’t the only notable player to miss practice. Tyler Higbee, Alaric Jackson, Jaylen Watson, and Byron Young were all also held out on Tuesday. Watson was the only one held out for an injury, though, as the other three received rest days.
Linebacker Grant Stuard was the only other player listed on the report. Stuard was a limited participant as he deals with a hamstring injury.
Of all the names on the report, Watson is probably the most concerning. The cornerback was one of the team’s major additions, and he’s expected to play a major role in the secondary. If Watson can’t go, Emmanuel Forbes Jr. could be thrust into a larger role.
The Rams and 49ers are set to kick off from Melbourne on Thursday night. Be sure to tune back in for the latest injury updates leading up to the game.
