The MLS hosts the annual MLS All-Star Game every summer, which features the best players in the league against European clubs or, more often, the Liga MX All-Star team.
The MLS has officially announced the 2026 MLS All-Star Game to be against the Liga MX All-Star team for a fifth time. The two All-Star teams have played each other for two consecutive years.
The league announced the friendly match on their official website and on their social media pages. On the promotional image, the MLS featured images of Inter Miami's Lionel Messi, LAFC's Son Heung-Min, Vancouver Whitecaps' Thomas Müller, and Charlotte FC's Tim Ream.
The match will be played at Charlotte FC's stadium, the Bank of America Stadium, which has a capacity of 75,037. This announcement hints that Messi and Son could be teammates this summer for this friendly match, which will be anticipated by many fans.
The two players played each other for the first time in the MLS last weekend, where LAFC defeated Inter Miami 3-0 in Los Angeles for the first weekend of the 2026 MLS season.

When is the 2026 MLS All-Star Game?
The MLS confirmed that the 2026 MLS All-Star Game against the Liga MX All-Star Game will be on July 29, 2026, at the Bank of America Stadium.
MLS confirms that tickets will be on sale for fans on March 24, 2026, at 10 a.m. ET/ 7 a.m. PT in the United States. The MLS also confirmed the MLS All-Star Skills Challenge, which will be on July 28, 2026, at Truist Field in Charlotte, North Carolina.
MLS: "Major League Soccer today announced that the 2026 MLS All-Star Game presented by Chime will feature the MLS All-Stars taking on a team of All-Stars from Mexico’s top soccer league, LIGA MX, on Wednesday, July 29 (8 p.m. ET) at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina. The highly anticipated match marks the first-ever All-Star Game played at the venue, and will be broadcast live on MLS on Apple TV in English, Spanish, and French."
