Much to the displeasure of MLB fans around the country, Opening Day will begin with a game exclusively on Netflix.
The New York Yankees and San Francisco Giants will kick off the 2026 season this Wednesday at 8:05 p.m. ET. Fans will get to see two star pitchers duel it out in Max Fried and Logan Webb.
"To watch Major League Baseball Opening Night, you’ll just need an active Netflix subscription — the games are included in all plans," the streaming network said in a press release. "Once you’re signed in on any supported device, simply open Netflix and select the MLB Opening Night stream to start watching."
Although tonight's game at Oracle Park should be great, baseball fans aren't thrilled about Netflix getting the rights to Opening Day.

"Netflix is determined to ruin Opening Day for two fan bases," Tom Fornelli of CBS Sports said.
"They’re doing gimmicks on the first game of the season for my beautiful sport," one fan wrote on social media.
"Here’s a prediction. At some point we are going to crash Netflix with this game tonight. Might be a short break, but it will happen," a second fan commented.
"Yankees opening night streaming on Netflix live from San Francisco is some nonsense if I ever seen it," another fan declared.
"I'm sorry you cannot get me to watch a baseball game between the Yankees and the Giants on Netflix," a social media user wrote. "That is just not something that I will do."
What should fans expect during tonight's game?
Matt Vasgersian, C.C. Sabathia and Hunter Pence will be in the booth to call this Wednesday's game between the Yankees and Giants.
Netflix's studio coverage, meanwhile, will be led by former ESPN anchor Elle Duncan. She'll be joined by former MLB stars Barry Bonds, Albert Pujols and Anthony Rizzo.
As for the ceremonial first pitch, "Thing" from hit Netflix series "Wednesday" will do the honors.
