Joe Davis is the top announcer for FOX’s Major League Baseball postseason coverage. However, he’s also an employee of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Davis is the play-by-play man for the Dodgers during the regular season. He has World Series rings from the Dodgers’ championship wins.
On Sunday, Davis was on the call of the Dodgers vs. Braves National League Division Series game. The Braves topped the Dodgers, 3-2, in Game 2, to even the NLDS at 1-1 heading into a pivotal Game 3.
Braves fans – and other MLB fans – were bothered by how Davis called some big moments for Atlanta.
Braves fans, including Atlanta’s official X account, took to social media to criticize Davis for his call.
“Pure electricity in the booth from Joe Davis🔥🔥,” one fan said sarcastically.
“Joe Davis should never call another game nationally,” one fan added.
“Joe Davis with ONE OF THE WORST playoff broadcast calls of all time,” one fan added.
“I hate the Braves as much as anyone, but this is playoff baseball and Joe Davis sounds beyond uninterested they shouldn’t allow him to call dodger games in October unless it’s the World Series,” one fan added.
“I say this as someone rooting against Atlanta this series… maybe let’s not have the dodgers local broadcast announcer on the call for these games, even if he’s on the normal Fox announce crew. Swap it with the Milwaukee series crew or something,” one fan added.
“Easy there, Joe Davis. Don’t get TOO excited now,” one fan added.
“Listened to the Braves radio call tonight, but y’all weren’t kidding about Joe Davis,” one fan added.
Davis is a pro, but it’s fair to question if he gets as excited for teams beating up on the Dodgers, than he would if the opposite was happening, given his regular season job.
