In the days following the horrific car accident that cost him an arm, ESPN draft analyst Matt Miller became the subject of an investigation by the Missouri Attorney General's Office. This week, the AG gave an update on the situation.

In an interview with Heather Sullivan of First Alert 4, Missouri AG Catherine Hanaway explained that the state received 26 separate complaints about Miller over alleged failure to pay out prizes in fantasy football leagues and paid scouting lessons. Miller reportedly ran 91 separate leagues in 2026 alone.

Hanaway explained that she expects a "lengthy investigation" due to how many transactions took place in the complaints.

"[W]e were getting complaints from Missourians, that they had been victims of his,” Hanaway said. “And it does look like it’s gonna be kind of a lengthy investigation, because there were a lot of transactions.”

“That they had paid for these camps, that they had placed fantasy football bets — or paid money to be in leagues, and no product was delivered, or a minimal product was delivered,” Hanaway said.

Miller's Situation

But Hanaway did offer her sympathies to Miller over his car accident and said that her office was not currently investigating the GoFundMe effort to raise money for his recovery, which has since been paused. Miller's GoFundMe reportedly raised over $50,000 at the time it was paused.

Miller recently announced that ESPN was placing him on leave. He said that he on leave due to his health and did not mention the consumer complaints.

"A quick update: The surgery to remove my left arm was successful with hopes of an eventual prosthetic replacement. Similarly, the femur and patella surgeries were also successful and the fantastic surgery team was able to save my left leg. To best focus on my healing and recovery, I’m stepping away indefinitely and will be placed on leave from ESPN. Thank you to all for the prayers and thoughts; please keep them coming," he wrote on X.

Sullivan reported that she was unable to reach Miller.
