ESPN NFL analyst Mina Kimes made it clear that she felt New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, not Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, was the MVP of the league in 2025.
Kimes felt that Maye was more "dominant" than Stafford.
“From a dominance perspective, Drake Maye was better than Matthew Stafford in just about every meaningful statistic,” Kimes said. “QBR, EPA per dropback, success rate. He had the highest completion percentage in the NFL. He was first in all of those, despite having a high average depth of target. On top of that, he was the more efficient quarterback. He also brought an element of rushing you just don’t get from Matthew Stafford.”
The MVP is a regular season award, of course, but Maye hardly looked like an MVP caliber player this postseason.

Maye actually made history, becoming the NFL's worst postseason quarterback since 2000, with his Super Bowl performance.
It's not impressive.
Kimes is facing blowback for her MVP vote
"The fact that Mina Kimes has an MVP vote is laughable," one fan wrote.
"Mina Kimes thought she was schooling Orlovsky so bad about Maye being the MVP all while ignoring Stafford leading the league in yards and tds🤣🤣🤣🤣 and now Maye looks like he hasn’t played the position before😂😂😂," one fan added.
"Rams need to fire Mina Kimes. Pathetic voting for Maye," one fan added.
"Can't believe we almost let Mina Kimes gaslight us into thinking Drake Maye should've won MVP…," one fan added.
Again, it is a regular season award, but Maye certainly did not play like an MVP caliber player this postseason.
