New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel was asked about undergoing marriage counseling this offseason, but his answer wasn't exactly what the public was looking for.
On April 7, Page Six sent the NFL world into a frenzy by sharing photos of Dianna Russini and Mike Vrabel hugging at a hotel in Arizona. TMZ later reported that Russini and Vrabel's connection dated back to 2021. Russini, who previously worked for The Athletic, resigned from her role with the outlet shortly after Page Six’s initial story was released.
Vrabel, meanwhile, had an “emergency 24-hour” marriage meeting with his wife Jen, which led to him stepping away from the Patriots on Day 3 of the NFL Draft.
During this Tuesday's media availability, Vrabel faced the following question from ESPN's Kalyn Kahler: "What did you learn from that counseling and how did you balance that personal commitment with getting ready for this season?"
Vrabel gave a lengthy response, but it didn't exactly shed light on his personal situation.
"I think we always look at improvement," Vrabel replied, via Us Weekly. "As we talk about getting ready for the next season, we always look at improvement and ways that we can improve individually and how we can improve as a team. It’s really critical that we continue to do that, on and off the field. I believe in that. I believe in everything we can do to help this football team, to help our coaches, to help myself and everybody else included."

The pressure is on Vrabel.
NBC's "Football Night in America" crew talked about this scandal during halftime of the Hall of Fame Game last Thursday. Former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin believes it's imperative that Vrabel avoids a slow start to the 2026 season.
“When games start, winning matters. If they get off to a fast start, they have a chance to quiet some of that noise,” Tomlin said. “If they don’t, that noise could get extremely loud.”
The Patriots will begin the 2026 season on Sept. 9 against the Seattle Seahawks. They'll then take on the Steelers at home 11 days later.
