It’s only Week 3 of the NFL season, but fans are already speculating about Mike Tomlin’s future.
Tomlin stepped down as the coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers back in January after going nearly two decades without having a sub .500 record. He finished his time in the Steel City with a 193-114-2 record, 13 playoff appearances and a Super Bowl title.
Although it’s way too early to determine which teams will pursue Tomlin next offseason, the Green Bay Packers are emerging as a trendy pick. They’re currently 1-2 and coming off a brutal loss at home to the Atlanta Falcons.
While the Packers have enjoyed a lot of success with Matt LaFleur, fans are starting to lose their patience with him. If this season continues to go off the rails, he might find himself on the hot seat come January.
In fact, some people believe LaFleur’s days with the Packers should already be numbered.

“You’re the Green Bay Packers,” former ESPN star Jon “Stugotz” Weiner said. “Mike Tomlin calls. What do you do?”
“Give Mike Tomlin a good GM and Jordan Love, and the Packers are back among the best teams in the NFL next season,” a Packers fan declared.
“Packers should be begging Mike Tomlin as of halftime yesterday get rid of Matt LaFleur,” a second fan wrote on X.
“Mike Tomlin will be next head coach of Green Bay Packers,” another fan predicted.
Is Tomlin definitely interested in coaching again?
Prior to the start of the 2026 season, Tomlin was asked if he’d ever return to coaching.
“It’s certainly not a 32-team league for me, but I’ve also learned to never say never,” Tomlin said. “I love to coach. I love all the challenges of the profession. I love to be a part of growth and development of young people individually. I love the measurement of the seven-day cycle, but also have enjoyed, man, the last six months life on this other side that I had no idea about.”
If the right opportunity presents itself, Tomlin may have a tough time passing it up. And for what it’s worth, the Packers would certainly check off a lot of boxes.
Not only does Green Bay have incredible history, it has a potential-packed quarterback in Jordan Love.
