However, he began to face increased scrutiny in recent years. Despite regular playoff appearances, the Steelers struggled to make deep postseason runs, with early exits becoming a recurring theme. Tomlin made the decision to step away from the sidelines after the Steelers’ wild card round loss to the Houston Texans, bringing an end to one of the longest and most stable coaching tenures in modern NFL history. Despite rumors of a possible return to the NFL, Steelers owner Art Rooney II confirmed that Tomlin will be taking a break from coaching for the time being.
Now, Tomlin appears to be preparing for the next phase of his career. According to a report from Front Office Sports, the former Steelers head coach has signed with prominent sports media agents Sandy Montag and Alex Flanagan, as he prepares to make a move toward broadcasting and media.
The decision opens the door for Tomlin to transition into a role where his experience, leadership, and perspective on the game can reach a broader audience. Given his reputation as a strong communicator and respected voice within the league, a move into sports media presents a natural progression.
