After years and years of hosting Football Night in America from their Connecticut Studio, NBC Sports will be taking the primetime football pregame show on the road for the 2026 season. But longtime NBC contributor and ProFootballTalk founder Mike Florio won't be going with them for most of the trips.
In an interview with Front Office Sports, Florio said that he'll be doing his studio contributions remotely from his house in West Virginia. He added that he was given the option to decide which trips he'll make.
“They’re going to let me decide which trips to make, and which games I should just stay home,” he said.
Florio explained that travel disrupts his ability to produce his PFT Live show and his productivity for ProFootballTalk. He still intends to go to as many as he can that are "reasonably distanced."
“The travel disruption impacts PFT Live, and impacts my productivity for ProFootballTalk,” Florio said. “So, the farther the trip, the less likely I’m going to go. And I’ve got the studio in my house. In 2020 and 2021, I was home every weekend, and it’s fairly seamless, to the point where when I’m in studio in Connecticut, and I run into people back home in West Virginia, they think that I’m home even when I’m in the studio.”
“So, they’ve got the technology in place where I can be home every weekend, but I want to get to as many as I can that are reasonably distanced so it’s not a major disruption,” he continued. “Travel is just a challenge when it comes to being as productive as I’d like to be.”

Football Night in America is going to look very different to fans this year. Tony Dungy, Rodney Harrison and Jac Collinsworth all said their goodbyes to the show after years, as did Matthew Berry and Chris Simms.
The core of the show for 2026 will consist of Maria Taylor, Jason Garrett, Devin McCourty and NBC's newest signing, former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach and Super Bowl champion Mike Tomlin.
