Michigan State offensive lineman Robert Wright Jr. went viral during his team’s season opener for a pretty gross reason.
Even though Michigan State won 30-20 in its opener against Toledo, it was evident that Wright lost his lunch during the fourth quarter. As the Spartans were attempting a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter, Wright vomited all over the field.
While the Spartans quarterback Alessio Milivojevic successfully connected with Rodney Bullard Jr. on the two-point conversion attempt, fans couldn’t take their eyes off of Wright.
“Where’s the flag for unnecessary vomit on the offense?” one fan asked.
“That should have been an unsportsmanlike flag. I don’t know if the 2 point conversion was successful or not. They pull players for bleeding until they are bandaged. This is disgusting,” a second fan said.
“And he still did his job. Home boys are not in game shape yet. Saw many players from teams puking this week,” another fan argued.
Good start for Michigan State’s new era of football.
Michigan State made a controversial decision last December hiring Pat Fitzgerald. Although the former Northwestern coach had a 110-101 record with the Wildcats, his tenure ended on bad terms.
Fitzgerald was fired for alleged hazing incidents that went on under his watch. In August 2025, Northwestern and Fitzgerald agreed to a settlement.
Fast forward to September 2026, and Fitzgerald has Michigan State at 1-0 heading into Week 2.
“Really proud of the way our guys responded,” said Fitzgerald. “I talked to them early in this process about learning the difference between reacting and responding. Reacting has an emotional response or an emotional way about it, and a response has an action plan that allows you to have success. And I thought we responded really boldly.”
Next up for Michigan State is a showdown with Eastern Michigan. One week later, Fitzgerald’s squad has a prime-time date with Notre Dame.
