The world of motorsports is headed to Michigan over the next week. On June 7, the NASCARCup Series will be at Michigan International Speedway, and a week earlier, INDYCAR will be at the Detroit Grand Prix this Sunday, May 31. The marketability for any local business and universities is huge, with a nationally televised series airing in the middle of daily cable television. The University of Michigan is attacking that timeslot with their head coach, Kyle Wittingham.

The NTT INDYCAR Series has always had a driver in a two-seater before taking the green flag for every race. Last week at the Indy 500, they notably ran out Curt Cignetti, Indiana's 2026 National Championship-Winning Head Coach, to drive the pace car.

At the Detroit Grand Prix, INDYCAR will be putting Michigan Football Head Coach, Kyle Wittingham, into the two-seater.

The two-seater is a modified INDYCAR vehicle built for fan experience. The experience is available to any fans who are welcome to open their wallet.

The Detroit Grand Prix will be broadcast on Fox, the home of Big 10 Football. Michigan fans will get to see their new head coach breezing down the front stretch, surely adding to the intrigue among recruits as they see just what Michigan brings to the table in its nationally acclaimed status.

Michigan hired Kyle Wittingham this past offseason to take over as their new head coach. The team recently parted ways with Sherrone Moore amid off-the-field allegations leveled against the head coach. Wittingham aims to bring Michigan Football back to the form that brought the team the 2023 National Championship.

Wittingham last coached for the Utah Utes as their head coach for about 20 years. He originally parted ways with Utah to take a break from coaching. Once the opportunity arose to join one of the nation's top college football programs, Wittingham took the job.

To see Wittingham at the NTT INDYCAR Series Detroit Grand Prix, fans can tune in to the race on Sunday, May 31, at 12:30 p.m. ET on Fox.
