Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan participated in an interview this week that apparently was "10 years in the making."
Basketball fans thought Jordan would be in the spotlight a bit more often this year since he agreed to join NBC as a "special contributor" for its NBA coverage. The six-time champion kicked off the 2025-26 season by sitting down with Mike Tirico for a one-on-one interview. They discussed his Hall of Fame career as well as his “obligation” to improving the NBA's current product.
Unfortunately, Jordan hasn't provided consistent analysis on the NBA this season. That has led to plenty of outrage on social media.
“Had us thinking he was gonna be on set critiquing players performances. Had us hyped for nothing,” one fan commented.
“Thank the Basketball Gods! Same sit down 1-on-1 interview split in multiple segments, promoted like each one was new over many weeks, no change of clothes, background, and honestly didn’t live up to the hype,” another fan wrote. “Poor use of MJ.”

Although he hasn't been featured on NBC, Jordan will return to the spotlight this Sunday. That's because he agreed to an interview with CBS host Gayle King.
King has apparently been wanting to interview Jordan for a decade. At least that's what she said during their exclusive conversation.
What will MJ discuss with King?
It turns out the interview will focus on Jordan's NASCAR team, 23XI Racing.
"When I got into the sport obviously a lot - as I learned, there was a lot of things that I wasn't really happy about," Jordan told King. "This sport was not set up for success long term for the individuals that's involved in the sport."
23XI Racing kicked off the 2026 season with Tyler Reddick winning the Daytona 500. It was a moment that Jordan and his crew will never forget.
"I can't even believe it. It was so gratifying," Jordan said. "You never know how these races are going to end. You just try to survive. We hung in there all day. Great strategy by the team, and we gave ourselves a chance at the end. Look, I'm ecstatic."
The Cup Series will resume this Sunday with the Cook Out 400 at Martinsville Speedway.
