Legendary NFL star Michael Irvin is publicly defending the actions of San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York.
York was arrested on suspicion of prostitution in Ohio last month. York ultimately had the charges dropped. The 49ers have yet to really address the incident.
“As this is a legal matter, which has been resolved, we will not be providing any further comment at this time,” the team said.
But as many are criticizing York and his actions, Irvin is coming to the defense of the NFL owner.

East Palestine Police.
Irvin believes that York, who was allegedly trying to pay $140 for sex at an Ohio trailer park in East Palestine, Ohio, didn’t do anything wrong.
“He got divorced 5-6 months ago, so I’m like, ‘Man, come on. Is that really a crime?’ Let that man go. Leave it alone,” Irvin told N3on during a Twitch stream.
“Like, imagine if you, uh, you’re going through a divorce and some, and some young girl, some pretty girl come up to you hitting on you, you know, and she’s undercover. You don’t know. And I don’t know how that happened or what happened with him.”
Irvin said that it’s similar to taking your significant other out to dinner.
“Everybody’s paying for it. You take (a girlfriend) out to eat, you’re paying for it. Everybody’s paying for it. So what are we doing? Why we gotta embarrass this man for 140 dollars? People think, ‘You’re a billionaire. Why didn’t you go to high-end places?’ The high-end places get you in trouble all the time.”
Ultimately, Irvin isn’t alone in feeling this way, but clearly, the law disagrees, as York was officially arrested and charged.
The 49ers will open the season on Thursday against the Rams in Australia.
