A year ago Miami Hurricanes running back Jordan Lyle looked like he would be a solid contributor on a title-seeking team. Now his entire junior season is in jeopardy.
According to Andy Slater of Fox Sports-South Florida, Lyle was arrested on a warrant in South Florida on Thursday. He has been charged with reckless driving and a felony count of fleeing from police.
“We are aware of an incident involving student-athlete Jordan Lyle. As due legal process runs its course, we will have no further comment at this time," a Miami spokesperson told Slater.
Lyle's Career in Miami
In two seasons with the Hurricanes, Lyle has appeared in 18 games and has 89 carries for 508 yards and five touchdowns, most of which came as a freshman in 2024. He has also contributed on special teams.
Last season he appeared in six games, rushing 35 times for 108 yards and one touchdown. His final touch of his season came in Miami's 38-10 win over Syracuse, where he had seven carries for 17 yards.
Miami would go on to win a school record 13 games that season as they went all the way to the College Football Playoff National Championship Game and narrowly lost to Indiana. Lyle did not play in any of those postseason games.

Unfortunately for Lyle, the Miami backfield is already pretty crowded. All five of Miami's leading rushers from last season - Mark Fletcher Jr., CharMar Brown, Girard Pringle Jr., Malachi Toney and Chris Wheatley-Humphrey - are back for another year.
Whether Lyle is forced to miss time due to this arrest or not, he might find touches hard to come by in 2026.
