Throughout the offseason, Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes have worked to build off their national championship appearance. Despite losing to the Indiana Hoosiers, Miami proved to be one of college football's top threats.
Players have taken notice of the team's rise as well, as evidenced by the Hurricanes' 2027 recruiting class. They've already landed eight commitments, ranking first in the ACC and ninth in the nation. The group is headlined by offensive playmakers such as four-star wide receiver Nick Lennear and four-star quarterback Israel Abrams.
However, one position that Cristobal and his staff have yet to find is running back. That may not last much longer, though.

On Tuesday, Rivals' vice president of recruiting, Steve Wiltfong, logged an expert prediction for Miami to receive a commitment from running back Myson Johnson-Cook. With 1,166 all-time predictions, Wiltfong has been correct 91.51% of the time.
It would be an exciting addition for the Hurricanes. Out of East St. Louis, Illinois, Johnson-Cook is a four-star recruit, the No. 3 running back and the No. 40 player in the nation, according to Rivals Industry Rankings. He put together a strong junior season at East St. Louis High School, rushing for 1,341 yards and 20 touchdowns on 126 carries.
While signs are pointing to Johnson-Cook becoming a Hurricane, they aren't his only option. Along with Miami (June 29), the running back has official visits scheduled with the Auburn Tigers (June 5) and Ole Miss Rebels (June 19).
If Miami can fend off these other teams' offers and land Johnson-Cook, it would add to an already impressive 2027 recruiting class. With official visits a few months away, it may not take long for the running back to make a decision.
