After losing to the Indiana Hoosiers in the national championship game, the Miami Hurricanes have not slowed down in the offseason. Mario Cristobal and his staff have already landed four commitments in the 2027 recruiting class.

With the NIL era in full swing, the Hurricanes have once again positioned themselves as a top team in college football. While their 2027 cycle already ranks 12th in the nation, Cristobal is far from done.

Miami is keeping tabs on several talented players, including EDGE Abraham Sesay out of Downingtown, Pennsylvania. At 6-foot-4.5 and 225 pounds, he's a four-star recruit, the No. 5 EDGE and the No. 38 player in the nation, per Rivals.

While garnering lots of attention, Sesay has already narrowed the battle down to six schools. That includes Miami, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Duke Blue Devils, Florida State Seminoles, Penn State Nittany Lions and South Carolina Gamecocks.

Cristobal is hoping to make him the Hurricanes' second defensive addition in the 2027 cycle, potentially joining four-star safety Jaylyn Jones. However, they aren't trending in the right direction.

On Thursday, Steve Wiltfong, Rivals' vice president of recruiting, logged an expert prediction that Sesay would commit to Notre Dame. With 1,128 all-time predictions, he has been correct 91.31% of the time.

The Fighting Irish are already outpacing Miami in the 2027 recruiting class. With seven commitments, they sit at No. 6 in the nation, well ahead of the Hurricanes. Adding Sesay would only widen that gap.

While no official decision has been made, it's clear that Notre Dame has taken a lead over Miami and the other finalists. After falling to them in Week 1 of the 2025 season, the Fighting Irish are in a position to get an exciting off-field win against the Hurricanes.
