Pat Riley and the Miami Heat set the agenda for this week's media cycle by trading for Giannis Antetokounmpo on Monday. The blockbuster deal has the Milwaukee Bucks sending Antetokounmpo and forward Bobby Portis to Miami in exchange for a bevy of assets. For players, Milwaukee received shooting guard Tyler Herro, center Kel'el Ware, forward Jaime Jaquez Jr. and guard Kasparas Jakucionis.
For draft picks, the Bucks acquired the No. 13 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, a 2031 unprotected first-round pick, a 2033 unprotected first-round pick, a 2030 first-round pick swap and a 2033 second-round pick. After nine All-NBA selections, back-to-back MVP awards (2019-20), a Defensive Player of the Year Award (2020) and, most importantly, an NBA championship and NBA Finals MVP award in 2021, the Greek Freak's 13 years in Milwaukee have come to an end.

The Giannis trade will not stop team president Pat Riley from making moves to solidify the Heat's roster ahead of the 2026-27 NBA season. On Wednesday, HoopsHype's Michael Scotto reported that Miami did just that by picking up the team option on guard Pelle Larsson for next season.
Larsson was originally drafted by the Houston Rockets with the No. 44 overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft but was traded on draft night to the Heat. After receiving limited playing time as a rookie (14.2 minutes per game), the 6-foot-5 guard saw increased action in his second season. In 70 games played (54 starts), the Sweden native averaged 11.4 points, 3.4 assists and 3.5 rebounds in 26.4 minutes per game.
Antetokounmpo joins head coach Erik Spoelstra, three-time All-Star Bam Adebayo and the newly solidified Larsson in the Magic City.
Miami will begin the 2026 Summer League at the California Classic on July 3 at Chase Center in San Francisco.
