Mexico’s second friendly match in the September-October international break will be against Peru in Harrison, New Jersey.
Mexico head coach Rafael Márquez returns to Sports Illustrated Stadium after playing for two and a half seasons for the New York Red Bulls, after joining the club 16 years ago.
Both teams played friendlies last weekend in the United States when Mexico took on Colombia, and Peru faced the USMNT.
Peru suffered a 4-1 loss to the USMNT, with Gianluca Lapadula scoring the only goal for the South Americans.
Mexico played Colombia in Baltimore, Maryland; the match finished in a 1-1 draw. 17-year-old sensation Gilberto Mora scored the goal for Mexico after getting past two players and finishing near post. Mexico’s performance against Colombia was highly praised despite drawing the match.
